Introducing the Pink Whisk Initiative: Nourishing Communities & Building Food Entrepreneurs in Prince George’s County

A New Chapter in Our Community Work

At Caked & Baked, community has always been at the heart of what we do. Over the years, we’ve connected with families, seniors, and aspiring food entrepreneurs who share a common story: a deep love for food, but limited access to the resources needed to thrive in the food ecosystem.

That’s why we’re excited to introduce something new  and deeply meaningful.

Meet the Pink Whisk Initiative

The Pink Whisk Initiative is a Maryland-based nonprofit dedicated to expanding nutrition access, food education, and food entrepreneurship opportunities in Prince George’s County. It’s the natural extension of the work we’ve been doing for years, now formalized into a mission-driven organization focused on impact.

Pink Whisk exists to make sure every resident  regardless of zip code, has access to nourishing food, practical nutrition education, and pathways into the food industry.

Why Pink Whisk Matters

Prince George’s County is rich in culture and talent, yet many neighborhoods still face limited access to fresh food and nutrition education. At the same time, countless residents dream of starting food businesses but lack the training, certifications, or commercial kitchen access to get started.

Pink Whisk bridges these gaps by combining nutrition access with economic mobility.

Our mission is simple:
Feed people. Teach people. Empower people.

Our Core Programs

Senior Nutrition Access

Weekly fresh food distribution, nutrition education, and cooking demonstrations designed to support healthy aging and reduce chronic disease risks.

Youth Food Access & Education

Hands-on cooking labs, after-school programs, and summer workshops that teach young people how to prepare healthy, affordable meals.

Food Entrepreneurship Pipeline

A structured pathway into food entrepreneurship for adults and youth, strengthened through our partnership with Foodī Academy, Prince George’s County’s first shared commercial kitchen incubator and workforce development program.

Participants gain access to:

• ServSafe certification
• Business readiness training
• Commercial kitchen resources
• Mentorship and pitch preparation

This pipeline helps residents move from food insecurity to food opportunity.

Rooted in Community

Pink Whisk is built on years of community engagement, pop-ups, workshops, and conversations with the people we serve. Our work is strengthened by:

• deep ties to Prince George’s County food desert communities
• the operational expertise of Caked & Baked
• the training infrastructure of Foodī Academy
• a commitment to equity, access, and empowerment

Pink Whisk isn’t starting from scratch — it’s growing from a foundation of lived experience
